Velvetron is four friends who were sick of seeing the marketplace filled with over-hyped, throwaway, unimaginative stuff. We began to hunt for thoughtful products and related news.
Our goal is to provide useful descriptions, reviews, and possibly some insight. Velvetron is written by real consumers for real consumers. Velvetron is for consumers who care about thoughtful products.
Thoughtful products are…
- high quality
- unique
- designed with visual appeal
- high value
- products that bring something new to the table
…products inspired by passion-not just motivated by bills to pay.
We named the site after a fictional robot, which made a lot of sense at the time.
Here’s a bit more about the people of Velvetron:
Pilar is a fan of the oxford comma despite Roy’s protests. Also, she treasures her Britney Paris Lindsay shirt designed and made by 1600 (Scott Chasse). When she’s not blogging, she is teaching or being taught about social research methodology.

Santi: Rocket-scientist, wannabe Rock-star, and all around nerd. Loves all things audio, gadget and transportation related.

Max hails from a remote planet where color does not exist. He does not understand your human lust for specific wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation.
Except pink. He loves Pink.

Roy: Kind of like Felix Unger with an iPod. I enjoy listening to new music, Chuck Taylors and overcast weather right before it rains. I do not enjoy rain or serif fonts. I do, however, enjoy umbrellas. I, much like the Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot and Elvis as of late, do not like being photographed. The picture you see to the left may be the only one of me you ever see. Cherish it.

That’s about it, but feel free to contact us with any and all questions!
