Nifty, right?

I am addicted to stationery stores.

I work on the computer. I play on the computer. I prefer to keep records, correspondence, notes and the like in searchable, wonderful, digital form. But I have many, many pens and notebooks that I love; but don’t use. And I keep buying them. It’s all very strange.

It’s not a surprise that while walking through New York City, I noticed a stationery store tucked away in a corner and felt compelled to “take a look.” In this situation, I have never simply looked, I have always found many treasures I simply couldn’t live without. But today, I found something extra cool: The Pigma Brush Pen by Sakura. It looks a lot like the Pigma Micron Pens, except that it has a brush-style tip that allows you to vary thickness simply by pressing harder. Since I am a terrible draftsman, this really doesn’t help me; but I needed one anyway. I am particularly excited that it has archival-quality waterproof ink, which is a feature I will never need, but I imagine there are those of you who would find this useful.

I also picked up a nifty pad of graph paper, which had the coolest grid pattern I have ever seen on it - check out the pictures below to see what I mean. I’d link it, but I can’t find anywhere that sells them: it’s a Quattro 8×8 grid pad made by Global Art Materials, which also says Hand*Book Journal Co. on the back. I’ve had no luck finding so much as a picture of these on the internets, but I did discover that Hand*Book Journal Co. makes the brightly colored Moleskine Competitors I’ve been seeing around. Not sure how those stack up against the old standby - yet. I’m sure the siren call of a stationery store will give me chance to find out soon enough ;)
