Hanging Printer

Why do all the designs I love always have to turn out to be concepts? This is yet another concept that I really dig. I think it’s a great idea that really utilizes some creativity to help reduce the footprint of printers that usually end up occupying a fair amount of that precious desk space.

As you can see in the image above, the paper is fed in through the top. It then makes it’s voyage downward, then back up, then out the front.

Overall I really like the look of the design, and the utility it provides. However, I can foresee some problems in trying to find a good place to hang it. I mean, if it’s on the back of the desk, then that means the desk can’t be up against a wall. And if the desk isn’t against the wall, then all the people on the other side of the desk will be presented with a weird silver thing hanging off your desk. If you hang it off the side you have a similar problem of always seeing this hangy thing. To me, the beauty of this design is that you simply don’t see very much of the printer. But I guess in reality, you would actually end up seeing a lot of it. My personal preference would be to see a custom desk that was designed for the printer. That way they could make the desk match the printer, and they could have custom cutouts for the printer to allow it to integrate more seamlessly and not have a printer hanging off the side of your desk.

Bottom-line, I still think it’s a really cool concept. Looking forward to seeing what their next step is.
