Diesel Hybrid VW Golf (Front)

I love my Rabbit, but if I do have one complaint it’s mileage. I knew what I was getting into from the beginning; if I wanted fuel economy, I’d have purchased a Civic or Corolla like many of my other friends. Still, sometimes I just wish I didn’t have to fill up as often as I do. I had come to terms with having to trade enjoying driving my car for a few MPG’s until I saw this pretty blue baby.

VW plans to release a diesel hybrid Golf (now the Rabbit here in the States) in late next year. While us yankees won’t see it for some time after that, the details are enough to get any current or potential VW owner excited for the things to come. VW is claiming 69.9 mpg and fewer emissions than the Prius or Civic Hybrid. Digital displays showing all the pertinent, energy saving info round out the current details. Under its hood, it rocks considerably fewer horses than the current Rabbit 2.5, but should have no problem passing Priuses in traffic. Considering the only thing the Prius (in my humble opinion) has going for it is its mileage and low emissions, the good people at Toyota better have something good up their sleeve to fight VW’s newest creation.
