File Folders

Does Cavallini & Company have the monopoly on cute file folders? If you have any leads on companies who are designing cool file folders could you please leave the name of the company in the comments? Initially, I liked the designs of Cavallini & Company, but since I’ve been seeing these folders for the past few years, I’d like to see something new. I’ve done a few google searches, but haven’t been too thrilled with the selections…leads and suggestions would be appreciated!

Nifty, right?

I am addicted to stationery stores.

I work on the computer. I play on the computer. I prefer to keep records, correspondence, notes and the like in searchable, wonderful, digital form. But I have many, many pens and notebooks that I love; but don’t use. And I keep buying them. It’s all very strange.

Periodic Rings

I like chunky rings, I like the periodic table, and I am not alone.

These Periodic Rings are come in three flavors: Gold, Silver, and Platinum. Each is decorated with the elemental symbol, atomic number and mass of the material from which they are fashioned. Now, these babies are solid chunks of metal, and so the price varies depending on which metal you want: Silver is $205, while platinum is a princely $6500. Simply put, this is the perfect graduation gift for a chemistry major or anyone who listens to nerdcore. Rings are made to order in 2-5 weeks, in sizes 7-9.

Spot On Square hangings

By now you’ve probably noticed I love wood, so it shouldn’t surprise you that I gravitated towards these fantastic wall hangings at the CABoom show last weekend. Keep reading for details on how to adopt your own…

This weekend, Santi & I headed over to CABoom. There was a lot of good stuff and I’ll be throwing some of it up for the next few days. I’m going to start with Loll Designs Modern Outdoor Furniture.

Cute Pig Loll furniture

Loll designs makes stylish outdoor furniture from recycled milk cartons. Because it is made out of plastic, the furniture doesn’t need to be repainted, as often is the case with furniture which is exposed to the sun, rain, and the elements.

Mobius Bag

Crazy looking, right? A Mobius strip as the handle to a bag warms every geeky fiber in my being. But, it doesn’t look geeky at all; and it isn’t alone. The materials for the pieces aren’t listed, but I’m guessing that they vary – items like the business card presenter are likely plastic, but the bags are more likely leather. My buddy David told me I had to check these out, and he was right – the organic, irregular shapes manage to be interesting and minimalist at the same time. I’m really just having trouble figuring out which bag I want to buy. A few more of my favorites are below, but there’s much, much more to be seen at his site.

Looking for art, but can’t quite get in the gallery game? Yes, it’s hard and for us newbies, art can be very expensive! Etsy can change this experience for you. Etsy is a social network & marketplace website that allows people to post their art to sell (via Paypal/Visa). Artwork is priced by each artist and much of the art is affordable: starts at 20 cents but there is good stuff for $5-$50.

Danesco Egg Timer

I’m a die-hard procrastinator, just like most of the other humans on this planet. This has cost me many hours of sleep, hours that were spent reading about Vair or watching educational videos on the internet. At the risk of implying that quadraped skateboarding isn’t, shall we say, mission critical, I have to say I’d like to procrastinate less. To see how this relates to the hourglass setup pictured, keep on reading.

Best Car Mod Ever?

Cars | Transportation

You can’t buy this anywhere, but I just had to share. If this isn’t thoughtful, I don’t know what is.

Honda Del Sol turned X-Wing425px

I spotted this in traffic a few days ago. It is what appears to be a Honda del Sol (circa 1994) that has been completely outfitted to match Luke’s X-Wing from A New Hope. It’s got nearly everything I could expect from a mid-sized economy sports car turned intergalactic space fighter. From the accurately detailed R2 unit in the back (so much for that rearview mirror) to the side mounted guns with laser burns scorching the car near the tips, this is clearly the work of some mad genius. Rebel Alliance insignia decal and some other panelling details round out the realism, giving you the impression that it might just circumvent the traffic on the 405 and make the jump to hyperspace somewhere north of LAX and south of the Getty.

Mad Genius, I salute you. Click the pic to see all the details closer up. It also seems as if the driver is explaining something to his passenger, given his hand motions. My guess: his theory on how awesome he is.

If the maker/owner of this car reads this post, drop me a line; I’ve a got 2007 VW Rabbit that I think has TIE Interceptor potential.
