Sigg bottles, 2 varieties

Like Max, concerned about the accumulation of plastic rubbish and also BPA leaching into my water, I picked up two new sigg bottles. One as a gift, the other for myself. Pretty sweet lookin eh? The one that says “I am not plastic” is a special edition available from mysigg.com. But I just checked, and they have sold out! Boy, that gift just got about 1000 times cooler! These swiss made bottles are simply superb. Great paint and build quality. It really feels like something I’ll have for many years to come.

Anyhow, you can find other sigg bottles all over the net, at local brick-and-mortar stores, as well as at some grocery stores like Whole Foods.

Odyssey Bag

Silent Revolution, from Los Angeles, makes some great 21st century bags. These bags are also 100% sweatshop free and designed for a sophisticated urbanite. My favorite is the Odyssey Bag. The red string detail, on the front flap of the bag, is placed there by hand and then the bag is quilted stitched over in order to hold the design. Each Odyssey Bag is a unique piece of art.

MD Pen

There’s an awesome little store in the West Village called Mxyplyzyk that I like to visit when I’m in New York. Similar in name to Mr. Mxyzptlk, the Superman villain, this store sells bits for the home like lamps and tables that are fun and functional - a toothbrush holder shaped like a giant molar figured into the last visit, and a coffee mug that looks eerily like a disposable coffee cup tempts me every time. On this visit, though, I saw a pen that I couldn’t resist.

Icon Watch

I was looking through the online MOMA Store, and I saw this Icon Watch that caught my eye. I think it would look great with a suit, and I’m heading over to the MOMA store tomorrow for a closer look.

In case you can’t wait: $75 from the MOMA Store, less for museum members.

Periodic Rings

I like chunky rings, I like the periodic table, and I am not alone.

These Periodic Rings are come in three flavors: Gold, Silver, and Platinum. Each is decorated with the elemental symbol, atomic number and mass of the material from which they are fashioned. Now, these babies are solid chunks of metal, and so the price varies depending on which metal you want: Silver is $205, while platinum is a princely $6500. Simply put, this is the perfect graduation gift for a chemistry major or anyone who listens to nerdcore. Rings are made to order in 2-5 weeks, in sizes 7-9.

Henry Tompkins Bag 1 (thumb)

I love bags, satchels, backpacks, and pretty much anything that will let me pack things up and carry them with me. While I’m constantly on the hunt for new bags, I’ve come to have a greater appreciation for what has been for me, the greatest bag on the planet: My Henry Tompkins Leather Satchel.

Charm Necklace

Tiffany & Co. has released a new line called Charmed by Tiffany. There have been charms at Tiffany’s for some time, but Charmed helps you start out your collection. You can still get your standard charms, but Charmed gives you an ability to customize your design. Charmed is being branded in pink, which of course, is not the traditional Tiffany’s blue.

unfold!

We’ve mentioned Working Class Heroes before, but I wanted to take a closer look at their Unfold laptop bag now that it’s officially out and we’re not limited to a meager preview. Their laptop sleeves are beautiful, and come with a host of different options to choose from, but the bag only comes in one versatile flavor.

UV Bikini

I was so excited to hear about these beads that can rate the intensity of UV rays.

I’m already gearing up for the summer, and that means new sunscreen, new swimsuits, and new beach accessories. I was excited to find these beads which go from white to a deep color depending on the UV intensity they’re exposed to. I can definitely see the usefulness of knowing how strong the UV rating is outside to help you prepare for a brilliant summer day. While I prefer to put on a healthy amount of sunscreen on regardless of an UV rating, I still like the notion of knowing how much UV I’m being exposed to.

Shinshoku Watch

I really like crazy clocks. Something about having a clock, and making you think and engage yourself before knowing what time it is seems like fun to me. Sure, you’ll probably get used to the new clock reading method, but at least no one else will.
